Assistant Administrator for Information Technology
Dr. Emma Garrison-Alexander became Assistant Administrator for Information Technology in May 2009.
As the Assistant Administrator and Chief Information Officer, Dr. Garrison-Alexander leads TSA’s IT office with an annual budget responsibility of nearly $400 million. She is responsible for developing and managing central policies for all of TSA’s IT requirements as well as developing and implementing IT initiatives across TSA.
Prior to TSA, Dr. Garrison-Alexander served more than 20 years with the National Security Agency, starting as an Electronic Engineer and holding leadership positions in Technology and Systems, Signals Intelligence, and Information Assurance.
Immediately before joining TSA, she was the Deputy Counterterrorism for Signals Intelligence Development Services. She also served as a Senior Operations Officer, operating on behalf of the Director of NSA in the command and control of time-sensitive signals intelligence and information assurance missions. She graduated from NSA’s Senior Leadership Development Program and was a member of the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service.
Dr. Garrison-Alexander holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Telecommunications Management and a Doctorate in Management with a focus on technology and information systems. She is an Assistant Adjunct Professor teaching in the Cyber Security Program in the Graduate School of Technology and Management at the University of Maryland — University College.
