Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Positions

Immigration Enforcement Agents are responsible for processing and deporting or escorting aliens who have been ordered removed from the United States to their country of citizenship. Working in the Detention Program, where they ensure the care (physical, mental and civil rights) of aliens in ICE’s custody; handle intake and outtake processing; counsel people regarding personal and family matters; and supervise and transport detained aliens. Agents gather intelligence, evidence and information to interrogate and debrief.
Immigration Enforcement Agents must be hired before their thirty-seventh birthday unless they have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement position.
This position requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion, including running, climbing, negotiating obstacles, and physically subduing and lifting uncooperative individuals. Extensive overtime and frequent travel by aircraft or motor vehicle are required. Activities include working in and around federal, state, and local criminal institutions. Work also involves the risk of attack, exposure to contagious diseases (such as TB, hepatitis and HIV).
