Short Position Descriptions for the CRP Website

Contract Specialist
As a Contract Specialist at TSA, you will be responsible for the acquisition of supplies and services of importance to the agency. This includes responsibilities in the areas of solicitation, negotiation, award, and administration of purchase orders and contracts. Additional duties may include developing and implementing acquisition strategies, as well as price/cost analysis and a wide variety of other procurement activities. You will also be responsible for providing technical advice and guidance, and interpretation of federal contracting rules and regulation.

IT Specialist
As an IT Specialist at TSA, you will be an important team member assisting on projects and programs involving the application of standard IT assessment tools and choosing among well-precedence software and hardware. You will also work with other IT Specialists and managers to recommend programming modifications to formats. You will have contact with internal and external IT customers where you will help to provide information, analysis, and project updates. Your position will allow you to evaluate established methods and procedures and prepare recommendations for changes in methods and practices on specific projects.

Transportation Security Specialist
As a Transportation Security Specialist at TSA, you will apply your technical knowledge and experience to perform a mixture of security related assignments as a part of a team. Your work will cover a variety of duties including developing briefings on factual information relative to strategic security priorities from unclassified information; preparing, compiling, and editing portions of TSA’s regulatory plan and semi-annual Regulatory Agenda; as well as collecting, recording and analyzing data, identifying problems and performing analysis related to the transportation security field.

This is a wide ranging occupation and the duties will cover a variety of work assignments in support of the organization’s mission, vision, and goals. Human Resources Specialist
As a Human Resources Specialist at TSA, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge of TSA policies to affect human resource programs and initiatives. The incumbent may work in one or more functional areas of human capital which includes recruitment, assessment/selection, hiring, placement, position management, compensation (pay, awards/bonuses), benefits, personnel processing, and termination/transfer/retirement. The incumbent will be responsible for providing general human resources services in classification and job design, organizational structuring, realignment, and position management.

Financial Specialist
As a Financial Specialist at TSA, you will have the opportunity to monitor and track obligations and expenditures for office functions throughout the execution phase of the annual operating budget. You will assist with verifying that obligations and expenditures occur on a timely basis per the annual work plan and regulatory controls. Identifies and analyzes trends in receipts, obligations and expenditures. Additionally, the incumbent may monitor budget levels to ensure efficient use of funding and allocate funds to individual activities/functional areas based on analysis of activity budget estimates, projected workload, and approved funding.

Technical Writer/Editor
As a Technical Writer/Editor at TSA, you will use your knowledge of TSA programs and initiatives to perform a mixture of writing and editing duties. Most positions will be employed with the Office of Strategic Communications & Public Affairs where you will be responsible for conveying information to TSA stakeholders and the traveling public. You will be responsible for assisting more senior workers in gathering information and writing or editing portions of larger articles or personally developing short informational articles or news summaries following established procedures and working under detailed instructions.
