Policy Changes
Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS) Director Dana Brown sent a memorandum via E-mail to all Federal Air Marshals commending their support to the recent Lebanon evacuations and expanded mission flights to the United Kingdom. He also advised the workforce of upcoming policy changes which, "are being made, now, because we have set in place mechanisms; our working groups, listening sessions, and Federal Air Marshal dinner groups. This is a process that is open, inclusive, and responsive. These changes reflect the impact of engaging directly with our personnel."
"These changes represent an evolutionary dynamic in workforce engagement, borne out of the maturation of our organization."This is a clear example that Dana Brown is being responsive to the workforce and to Congress. Due to security concerns, we can not elaborate on the specific updates, but they are a result of recommendations from over 15 Federal Air Marshal working groups, listening sessions, Federal Air Marshal dinners with the Director and FAMS Field Office visits.
Dana Brown set forth the process for gaining these recommendations within days of being appointed as the Director of FAMS on March 3, 2006. He has stressed that, "these changes represent an evolutionary dynamic in workforce engagement, borne out of the maturation of our organization and the recognition that we can, and will, work together to build an organization that will be well respected and sustainable over time and which will reflect the best traditions among federal law enforcement organizations."
He will continue to seek recommendations from current and future working groups, listening sessions, Federal Air Marshal dinners with the Director and FAMS Field Office visits.
