Baseball fans from around the country will stream into Boston and Denver beginning this week for the World Series and TSA will be ready.
As Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies fans alike move to make travel reservations, secure tickets and outfit themselves in World Series gear, TSA's transportation security officers (TSOs) and other employees at Boston's Logan International and Denver International airports are preparing for the influx of out-of-state baseball fans and media representatives.
"As with any major event, the TSOs at Logan are ready to manage any additional passenger volume resulting from games one and two of the World Series in Boston, " said Boston Federal Security Director (FSD) George Naccara.
Out west, Denver FSD David Bassett is making plans for games three and four. "In addition to making sure we have adequate screening personnel, we're deploying line monitors to help prepare passengers before they enter the security checkpoint," he said.
Both airports began making preparations soon after their cities' teams won league pennants. Nearly 40 additional TSOs arrived at Denver over the weekend from TSA's National Screening Force. Bassett and his staff also spent last week looking at optimizing checkpoint operations to ensure that TSA could accommodate extra crowds.
"No matter who wins the World Series, security is number one for all of us at TSA," said Nacarra.
