At approximately 6:40 p.m. a male passenger walked up the exit lane past a contract security guard at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Terminal 2. The guard could not immediately locate the passenger and notified the Transportation Security Administration.
TSA coordinated with its law enforcement partners and Delta Air Lines and a search for the passenger began. After the initial search did not locate the individual, the decision was made to empty terminals two and three and re-screen all passengers at 7:53 p.m. The terminals were evacuated and searched and re-screening began at approximately 9:30 p.m.
During the evacuation, TSA learned that the passenger was suspected of being onboard Delta Flight 6044 to Albany. TSA and law enforcement officials met the flight in Albany and located the passenger. He is currently in the custody of the Albany Police Department. There is no known nexus to terrorism at this time.
