The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded $52.3 million worth of contracts to deploy security technology piloted at the nation's airports and mass transit facilities in recent months, moving to quickly bring enhanced screening equipment to the nation's travelers. Newly procured technology includes:
These significant purchases will build a suite of new technologies aimed at enhancing security with layered systems that address multiple threats. Though there is no silver-bullet technology that meets every need, adding layers makes it harder for terrorists to manipulate or circumvent the security process.
Being forward-leaning with these promising technologies will equip our security officers with the tools to complement their training and to protect the traveling public.
