WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced that it has named Vernon Baker as Federal Security Director (FSD) at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas.

"Vernon Baker has over 25 years of aviation experience and will provide strong leadership for our screeners at Hobby," said Rear Adm. David M. Stone, USN (Ret.), Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for TSA. "Vernon's vast and intricate knowledge of the Houston airport system and experience in aviation will be an invaluable asset to TSA, the airport, and the traveling public."

Baker has served the past two years as a TSA Stakeholder Manager at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. He has also served as Assistant Director for Operations for the City of Houston Aviation Department and as a Security Specialist at the Federal Aviation Administration.

Baker will replace Interim FSD Skip Williams. Williams will return to his previous position as FSD for John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif.

The position of federal security director was created by the Aviation and Transportation Security Act signed by President Bush on November 19, 2001.
