Washington, D.C. – The Federal Air Marshal Service today announced the appointment of Colleen B. Callahan to the position of Assistant Director for Field Operations. In her new role she will oversee all aspects of field office operations, including budget, personnel, policy and training. Callahan joined the air marshal service in June 2002 as assistant director for Flight Operations and most recently served as assistant director of the Office of Training and Development.
Federal Air Marshal Service Director Dana Brown said, “During the last four years, Colleen has brought a strong sense of commitment and outstanding management and operational skills to this agency. Her work here, coupled with her many years of protective and investigative experience, makes her ideally suited to manage our 21 field offices throughout the nation.”
Callahan retired from the United States Secret Service in 2002 as Deputy Assistant Director for Human Resources and Training. Her 22-year career with the Secret Service included investigative and protective assignments in Jacksonville, Fla., and New York and with the Presidential Protective Division, including positions as Special Agent In Charge-White House Division and Deputy Assistant Director for both Administration and the Office of Inspection. She was the first woman to serve as a certified Polygraph Examiner, Detail Leader for a Presidential Candidate and to supervise a Presidential Protection Shift. Callahan has additional law enforcement experience as Deputy Inspector General-Department of Labor and with the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Security Police.
She attended Florida State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the School of Criminology.
