TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – The Transportation Security Administration announced today that Rick Gordon has been named federal security director (FSD) at Cherry Capital Airport (TVC). As FSD, Gordon will oversee all TSA security operations at TVC and its spoke airports in the upper peninsula of Michigan.
"We are very pleased to have Rick oversee the TSA operations in Traverse City,” said Michael J. Restovich, TSA assistant administrator for Security Operations. “He brings a wealth of law enforcement knowledge and security experience to his new position.”
Gordon served as Western Area staff operations officer assisting the TSA Office of Security Operations and the Western Area director since July 2006. Prior to that, Gordon provided oversight for all TSA spoke airport security operations in Idaho as the deputy federal security director at Pocatello Regional Airport. He has also served TSA as acting FSD for Idaho Falls from April 2003 to July 2005. Gordon joined TSA in September 2002 as the agency was forming in response to 9/11. He previously was an operations/precinct commander in the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon and has over 28 years of law enforcement operations and management experience.
The position of federal security director was created by the Aviation and Transportation Security Act signed by President Bush on November 19, 2001.
