DENVER - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has named David Bassett federal security director (FSD) for Denver International Airport pending final approval by the Department of Homeland Security.

Previously, Bassett was FSD at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, managing all federal transportation security operations for Western New York. He also has served as FSD at the Greater Rochester (N.Y.) International Airport, where his responsibilities extended to six airports, overseeing budget, technology pilots and workforce issues.

"David Bassett is a seasoned member of the TSA workforce with an exemplary background as an FSD at multiple airports," said Mo McGowan, TSA's assistant administrator for Security Operations. "I look forward to his continued successes in aviation security as he assumes his new responsibilities in Denver."

Bassett has served for 22 years in the U.S. Navy/U.S. Navy Reserve and holds the rank of commander. He was recently selected for promotion to the rank of captain. Bassett also has worked in the private sector in the fields of information technology and clinical diagnostics. He holds a degree in business administration from California State University, Sacramento.

The Denver FSD position opened when Patrick Ahlstrom was selected as a senior field executive within TSA's Office of Security Operations.
