A team of TSA officers and staff are supporting the resumption of operations at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
TSA officers and staff who were deployed to New Orleans to help passengers evacuate in advance of Gustav returned to the airport Wednesday, Sept. 3. For their own safety, deployment personnel were evacuated to Dallas after the last passengers were screened Sunday evening before the storm's arrival.
A team of 135 transportation security officers will operate the airport's checkpoints until local TSA New Orleans officers return to work. Federal air marshals are also on site to support security operations at the airport.
The first flight departure since the storm was Thursday morning, Sept. 4.
