WARWICK, R.I. - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced approximately $3.2 million in funding for the installation of a closed circuit television (CCTV) system at T.F. Green Airport (PVD) - designed to assist TSA's efforts to strengthen security at airports.
"This enhancement will improve security and assist with the resolution of suspicious items," said T.F. Green's Federal Security Director Joseph Salter. "The addition of new cameras will be an invaluable asset to our security efforts at T.F. Green Airport."
The $3.2 million award, which comes from fiscal 2009 funds, will enhance CCTV systems currently in place at T.F. Green Airport. CCTV systems are an integral part of TSA and airport security operations, providing a high level of threat detection and enhancing emergency response and risk mitigation.
Kevin Dillon, President and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation, said, "We are pleased to have the support for this important installation at T.F. Green Airport. The TSA funding will further enhance our ongoing safety and security programs."
CCTV technology is used at hundreds of airports across the country, and TSA has collaborated to expand these sophisticated and integrated security networks to increase safety for airport facilities and employees.
