WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has named Robert Allison as Federal Security Director (FSD) for Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), which serves Washington, D.C. and the surrounding areas.

Allison has served as DCA’s Acting FSD since December 2008. He joined TSA in 2002, first as a Customer Support and Quality Improvement Manager, then rising to Assistant Federal Security Director for Screening before becoming Acting FSD. He has more than 31 years of experience in aviation, having held several positions at airports nationwide for US Airways, including Station Manager at DCA.

“Bob’s extensive aviation background and experience at TSA have prepared him for the unique challenge of leading federal transportation security efforts in the nation’s capital airport,” said Lee Kair, TSA’s Assistant Administrator for Security Operations. “His outstanding leadership and management skills will continue to be a significant asset to TSA operations at DCA.”

Allison has enhanced the security of not only DCA but airports around the country. He successfully orchestrated security at DCA to accommodate unprecedented passenger travel during the January 2009 Presidential Inauguration. In addition, he established protocols to better ensure that intelligence briefings reach Transportation Security Officers at airports nationwide.

Allison will be responsible for managing a diverse workforce of over 500 aviation security professionals as well as day-to-day security operations, including implementing aviation and transportation security policies. He will also oversee general aviation security activities at DCA and private airports in the Washington, D.C. area.
