TSA Pre✓™ is a pre-screening initiative that allows eligible passengers to volunteer information about themselves to expedite their screening experience. Eligible passengers may be referred to the TSA Pre✓™ lane where they will undergo expedited screening, which could include being able to leave their shoes, light outerwear and belts on, allowing them to keep their laptops in their cases and 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bags in their carry-on.

"TSA remains committed to working with our partners across the aviation community to provide travelers the most effective security in the most efficient way," said TSA Administrator John S. Pistole. "By learning more about travelers through information they voluntarily provide, and combining that information with our other layers of security, we can focus more resources on higher-risk and unknown passengers. Expanding TSA Pre✓™ underscores our strong commitment to developing and deploying innovative security solutions to protect the nation's transportation systems."

More than 1.5 million passengers have received expedited screening through TSA Pre✓™ security lanes since the initiative began in October 2011. TSA Pre✓™ is currently available in 16 airports for U.S. citizens who are select frequent flyers of participating airlines or members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs and traveling within the U.S. Individuals interested in applying for one of CBP's programs should visit www.globalentry.gov. United Airlines and US Airways join American Airlines, Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines in offering the benefits of TSA Pre✓™ to their eligible frequent travelers.

TSA Pre✓™ is part of a continuing effort to implement a risk-based approach to transportation security. In addition to TSA Pre✓™, there are now modified screening procedures for passengers 12 and younger and 75 and older at airports nationwide. TSA has also expanded TSA Pre✓™ benefits to active duty U.S. military members traveling through DCA and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

TSA will always incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
