TSA Names New Federal Security Director for Three Tennessee Airports

WASHINGTON, D.C - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today named Maggie Rhodes the new Federal Security Director (FSD) for McGhee Tyson (TYS), Chattanooga Metropolitan (CHA), and Tri-Cities Regional (TRI) airports in Tennessee. As FSD, Rhodes will oversee all TSA security operations in her area.

DHS Announces Nearly One Million Dollars in Bus and Transit Security Grant Awards in the Northwest to Protect Bus and Light Rail Systems

WASHINGTON, D.C - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced today an $800,000 grant to Portland, Oregon’s TriMet to improve rail security and a $150,000 grant to Vancouver, Washington’s C-TRAN to improve intercity bus security. These awards are part of $136 million in grants to cities across the nation to protect transit systems and the traveling public, and are in addition to a $1.2 million CCTV grant awarded by TSA to Portland International Airport (PDX) and three TSA certified K-9 teams recently announced for TriMet.

$1.1 million in Federal Grants to Protect Transit System in St. Louis WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced today a $1.1 million grant to the St. Louis Metro-Bi State Development Agency (d.b.a. Metro) to improve rail and intercity bus security. Since 2003, DHS has provided approximately $1.8 million to St. Louis through grants and equipment transfer programs administered by the Department's Office of Grants and Training.

TSA Receives High Marks for Critical Incident Management Exercise

TSA received high marks for its performance last June in a simulation of an incident that would require relocation of the agency's operations. TSA effectively relocated in a timely manner, maintained command and control, and continued TSA's critical functions. Leadership was able to set policy, make decisions, and communicate down the chain of command. The exercise demonstrated that TSA was able to effectively conduct business from a remote location, and that its continuity of operations plan was effective.

DHS Awards $898,530 Transit Security Grant In Pittsburgh To Protect Bus and Rail Systems

PITTSBURGH - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced today an $898,530 transit security grant to the Port Authority of Allegheny County to deploy rail emergency carts and perimeter security systems ($259,830) and bus closed-circuit television and security systems ($638,700). Since 2003, DHS has provided $3,396,517 million to Pittsburgh through grants and equipment transfer programs administered by the Department's Office of Grants and Training.

DHS Awards $893,600 Transit Security Grant In Cleveland to Protect Rail Transit Systems

CLEVELAND - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded $136 million in grants to protect transit systems and the traveling public. The Transit Security Grant Program (TSGP), which is part of the department’s Infrastructure Protection Program (IPP), strengthens the nation’s ability to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks, major disasters, and other emergencies that could impact this country’s critical infrastructure. This year, transit systems in Cleveland received $893,600 in TSGP grants. Since 2005, DHS has provided approximately $2 million to Cleveland through grants and equipment transfer programs administered by the Department’s Office of Grants and Training.
