Laptop Bags: Industry Process and Guidelines

On March 3, 2008, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) posted a Request for Information (RFI) on Federal Business Opportunities calling for information on innovative laptop bag designs that would present a clear image equal to or better than the image of the laptop in the bin when X-rayed. The RFI asked that offerors submit information and design concepts of their bags within 30 days and prototypes within 90 days.

TSA Lifts Cap and Eliminates Fee on Registered Traveler

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced it has cleared any impediments to further expansion of Registered Traveler (RT) business opportunities beyond the initial 20 airports. TSA determined that the current security threat assessment largely duplicates the watch list matching that is conducted on all travelers every time they fly. The other parts of the security threat assessment are not core elements in determining threats to aviation security and will no longer be required, and the government is eliminating the $28 fee.

Long Island Maritime Workers Begin Enrollment for Federal Port Security Credential

TSA Announces Launch of Expedited Screening for Flight Deck Crew Members

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today launched crewPASS, a test program designed to evaluate expedited access to secure areas of airports for properly credentialed commercial flight deck crew members. The program is a mandate of the 9/11 bill and will be evaluated at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Pittsburgh International Airport and Columbia (S.C.) Metropolitan Airport.
