TSA Ramps Up Deployment of Advanced Technology X-Ray Machines, Passenger Imaging Technologies, and Liquids Explosive Detection

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced expanded deployment that will bring Advanced Technology X-ray (AT) and Passenger Imaging to 21 of the nation's busiest airports by the end of 2008. TSA also plans to purchase and deploy approximately 300 additional AT X-rays and 80 Passenger Imagers, bringing the total to 900 AT and 120 Passenger Imaging units nationwide in 2009.

TSA Supports National Capital Region Cooperative Inter-modal Transportation Security Exercise

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently participated in a cooperative transportation security exercise with local transportation authorities that included Amtrak, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), Virginia Railway Express (VRE), Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), local law enforcement and state and local emergency responders.

San Pedro Bay Ports Open New Enrollment Site for Federal Security Credential

SAN PEDRO, Calif. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Port of Los Angeles worked together to open an additional enrollment site this week on Terminal Island in an effort to facilitate enrollment for the Los Angeles/Long Beach port worker, mariner and trucker communities into the federal Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program.

St. Thomas Port Workers Begin Enrollment for Federal Port Security Credential

THOMAS , U.S. Virgin Islands – Port and longshore workers, truckers and others on the Island of St. Thomas today will begin to enroll in the Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program. The program's goal is to ensure that any individual who has unescorted access to secure areas of port facilities and vessels has received a thorough background check and is not a security threat.
