Good morning.  Thank you, Chip (Barclay, AAAE president), for that kind introduction, and thank you for inviting me, once again, to meet and talk with so many colleagues actively working to improve and strengthen the aviation industry.  That is an objective we share, and taking time to brainstorm and collaborate with each other at meetings such as this is valuable to the process.

Good morning. Thank you, Lee (Zak, USTDA Director), for that kind introduction, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to share some thoughts with all of you this morning. As you might guess, the subject of aviation security holds some significance for me, and I appreciate being able to discuss it in the context of trade and commerce, especially with partners as important to the United States of America as those represented here today.

TSA Pre✓™ Begins at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the start of TSA Pre✓™ operations at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Under TSA Pre✓™, U.S. citizens traveling domestically who are frequent travelers on Alaska, American, Delta, United and US Airways or members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs are now eligible to participate and may receive expedited screening benefits. The TSA Pre✓™ lane is located at the South Checkpoint.

By U.S. House of Representatives rules which state that the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has no jurisdiction over the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), no representative from TSA will be present at the Subcommittee on Aviation hearing scheduled for Nov. 29.

TSA will continue to work with its committees of jurisdiction to pursue effective and efficient security solutions. In the 112th Congress alone, TSA witnesses have testified at 38 hearings and provided 425 briefings for Members of Congress.

Canadian NEXUS Members Now Eligible for TSA Pre✓™

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced that Canadian NEXUS members who are eligible for TSA Pre✓™ can begin participating in the program. Canadian citizens traveling domestically in the United States who are members of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) NEXUS program are eligible and may receive expedited screening at participating U.S. airports.

SAN FRANCISCO – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the start of TSA Pre✓™ operations at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Under TSA Pre✓™ U.S. citizens traveling domestically who are select American and United Airlines frequent travelers or members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs are now eligible to participate and may receive expedited screening benefits. The TSA Pre✓™ lane is located at Terminal 2 for American passengers and Terminal 3, Checkpoint F-3 for United passengers.
