TSA Pre✓™ Expands at LAX to Include United Airlines

LOS ANGELES – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the expansion of TSA Pre✓™ operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Terminal 7 with United Airlines. TSA Pre✓™ is a passenger prescreening initiative that allows qualified passengers to go through an expedited security process, which among other benefits, allows them to keep their shoes and light outerwear on while going through the checkpoint. At LAX, select Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and now United Airlines frequent travelers are eligible to participate and may receive expedited screening benefits when flying domestically.

TAMPA, Fla. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the start of TSA Pre✓™ operations at Tampa International Airport (TPA). In Tampa, select Delta Air Lines frequent flyers and members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs are now eligible to participate in the initiative when traveling domestically.

TSA Pre✓™ Expands to Charlotte Douglas International Airport

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the start of TSA Pre✓™ operations at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). At CLT, select US Airways frequent flyers and members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler program are now eligible to participate in the initiative. In addition to US Airways, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are also operational at CLT and eligible TSA Pre✓™ passengers traveling on these airlines may access the TSA Pre✓™ lane for expedited screening.

TSA Names John Halinski as Deputy Administrator

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration today announced John W. Halinski will serve as the new Deputy Administrator beginning July 1, 2012. Halinski replaces Gale D. Rossides, who last month announced her retirement after more than 34 years of dedicated public service.

TSA Proposes Terminations at Philadelphia International Airport

PHILADELPHIA – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced disciplinary action against seven employees at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) for professional misconduct. Following an eight-month investigation, TSA management at PHL and the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General (OIG) found several employees involved in bribery.

At LGA, select American Airlines and Delta Air Lines frequent flyers and passengers who are members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs are now eligible to participate in TSA Pre✓™ when traveling domestically.

TSA and EU Achieve Unprecedented Air Cargo Security through Agreement

WASHINGTON – Today, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the European Commission announced an unprecedented air cargo security partnership with the European Union and Switzerland, paving the way for improved information sharing, stronger security, and more efficient transportation of cargo between the U.S. and the EU. Air cargo traffic between the EU and the U.S. amounts to over a million tons a year travelling each way across the Atlantic, which is over 20% of all outbound air cargo from the EU (2010 figures).
