TSA's Helpful Hints for Labor Day Travelers

WASHINGTON — With over 2.6 million travelers expected to fly over the Labor Day travel period, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reminds travelers to prepare and plan ahead for the security screening process by using or the MyTSA mobile app.

Good morning, thank you Deborah for the introduction, and thank you all for the gracious reception. I appreciate the opportunity to be with you this morning, and today I want to use my time to share some thoughts regarding the state of aviation security in North America and how we can continue working together to strengthen it in the most efficient way. In doing so, I will talk a little bit about what we at TSA see as the current threat environment in commercial aviation, and the programs and initiatives we are implementing to address those threats and mitigate the risks they represent.

TSA concurs with GAO’s four recommendations to ensure that the agency establishes a process to verify that TSA staff at airports are in compliance, and is already working to implement these recommendations.

TSA to Launch Application Program for TSA Pre✓™

WASHINGTON — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that it will add a new process allowing more U.S. citizens to enroll in TSA Pre✓™ , an expedited screening program that allows pre-approved airline travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on in select screening lanes.

TSA Pre✓™ Expands to Alaska, Delta and Virgin America Travelers at Philadelphia International Airport

PHILADELPHIA – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced the expansion of TSA Pre✓™ operations at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Now eligible passengers traveling on Alaska, United, Delta and Virgin America may receive expedited screening benefits at the checkpoint in Terminal D/E. TSA Pre✓™ has been available at Checkpoint C in Terminal B/C to participating United and US Airways passengers since September 2012.

TSA Pre✓™ Expands to Include Virgin America

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced that Virgin America will begin offering TSA Pre✓™ to individuals with a government issued Known Traveler Number. Starting in June 2013, Virgin America passengers may enter their Known Traveler Number or PASS ID in the Known Traveler Number field during the reservation process or upon check in at the airport ticket counter to be considered for TSA Pre✓™ benefits. Later this year, Virgin America plans to also invite eligible frequent fliers to opt-in to TSA Pre✓™.

TSA Pre✓™ Hits 10 Million Mark

TSA Pre✓™ expedited screening allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belts, keep their laptops in their cases, and one 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in their carry-on.
