TSA Pre✓™ application center now open in Wichita, Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. — The Transportation Security Administration today announced the opening of an application center in Wichita for TSA Pre✓™, an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on bag.

TSA is currently in the process of expanding to more than 300 application centers across the country.

September 11th Security Fee increase

“As required by the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013, TSA has published an interim final rule to the Federal Register to restructure the September 11th Security Fee.

“In accordance with Federal Law, the revenue generated from the security fee will be deposited in the general fund of the Treasury. The revenue is to be used to offset TSA costs for providing civil aviation security services, after stipulated amounts are applied to reduction of the federal deficit.”

TSA names Melvin Carraway new deputy administrator

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that Melvin J. Carraway will become deputy administrator July 13, 2014. Carraway replaces Deputy Administrator John W. Halinski, who will retire July 12, 2014. Carraway currently serves as TSA supervisory federal air marshal in charge, Dallas field office.

4 Montana airports awarded private screening contract

BILLINGS, Mont. — The Transportation Security Administration today announced the selection of Comprehensive Security Services Inc. and FirstLine Transportation Security Inc. — a joint venture — as the private screening contractors under the agency's Screening Partnership Program. These companies will provide screening service for four airports in Montana: Bert Mooney Airport (BTM), Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN), Glacier Park International Airport (GPI) and Yellowstone Airport (WYS).
