TSA names Melvin Carraway new deputy administrator

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that Melvin J. Carraway will become deputy administrator July 13, 2014. Carraway replaces Deputy Administrator John W. Halinski, who will retire July 12, 2014. Carraway currently serves as TSA supervisory federal air marshal in charge, Dallas field office.

4 Montana airports awarded private screening contract

BILLINGS, Mont. — The Transportation Security Administration today announced the selection of Comprehensive Security Services Inc. and FirstLine Transportation Security Inc. — a joint venture — as the private screening contractors under the agency's Screening Partnership Program. These companies will provide screening service for four airports in Montana: Bert Mooney Airport (BTM), Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN), Glacier Park International Airport (GPI) and Yellowstone Airport (WYS).

TSA Pre✓™ application center now open at Tampa International Airport

TAMPA, Fla. — The Transportation Security Administration and Tampa International Airport today announced the opening of an application site for TSA Pre✓™, an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. TSA is currently in the process of expanding to more than 300 application centers across the country.

TSA introduces new baggage screening equipment at Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport

NEW YORK - The Transportation Security Administration has installed a new piece of high-tech baggage screening equipment at Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport (ITH) to screen checked baggage instead of having TSA officers manually inspect each piece of baggage whether it is a suitcase, duffel-bag, knapsack, box, golf bag or other item.
