Airport Security Design Guidelines

Our Recommended Security Guidelines for Airport Planning, Design and Construction provides best practices guidance on security considerations related to airport construction projects, including airport layout, security screening, emergency response, access control and communications, and other topics.Transportation security is more than screening air travelers, and we are creating a seamless connection between all those who have a stake in transportation security; among our agency and other government players, international allies and industry partners. Our Recommended Security Guidelines for Airport Planning, Design and Construction provides best practices guidance on security considerations related to airport construction projects, including airport layout, security screening, emergency response, access control and communications, and other topics.

TSA will continue to coordinate with the airport industry to periodically update the guidelines, and has established an email address, asdg-comment@dhs.gov, to receive comments and suggestions from experts and the public.
