Effective June 03, 2013 New Mexico is the latest State to offer comparability to Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) holders applying for an Hazardous Materials Endorsement(HME) which gives them the option to pay a reduced fee since the security threat assessments for both programs are comparable. Below is the full listing of States that offer this comparability.

  • HME STA applicants are eligible to use their TWIC STA as a comparable STA during the application process in the following States (including the District of Columbia) as long as they hold a valid TWIC STA with at least one year remaining before expiration:
1. Arizona 9. New Mexico
2. California

10. North Carolina

3. Delaware

11. Oregon

4. District of Columbia

12. South Dakota

5. Hawaii

13. Utah

6. Missouri 14. Virginia
7. Nebraska 15. West Virginia
8. Nevada

16. Wyoming

Applicants in all States above, except Virginia, can confirm their eligibility online with TSA during the HME STA application process here. The State of Virginia will confirm the eligibility of applicants online with TSA

  • HME STA applicants are eligible to use their TWIC STA as a comparable STA during the application process in the following States as long as they hold a valid TWIC STA with at least four years remaining before expiration:
1. Alabama 6. New Jersey
2. Colorado 7. North Dakota
3. Kansas 8. Oklahoma
4. Minnesota 9. Vermont

5. Montana
