Public Notice

The External Compliance & Public Outreach Division’s public email box, TSAExternalCompliance@tsa.dhs.gov experienced a technical issue between 9:00 am Thursday, December 8, 2011 and 4:20pm Saturday, December 10, 2011.  There was a complete email blackout and emails cannot be recovered. The issue has been resolved. If you sent an email with a civil rights and/or civil liberties issue to TSAExternalCompliance@tsa.dhs.gov between the above noted times and dates, we encourage you to re-submit the concern for our review.

Mission of the External Compliance and Public Outreach Division (ECPOD)

To ensure that the civil rights and liberties of the traveling public are respected in TSA’s programs and activities.

Compliance Mission:

• To conduct inquiries and respond to complaints of unlawful discriminatory treatment from the traveling public about TSA’s security screening programs and activities.
• For Travelers: Filing a Complaint

Policy Guidance Mission:

• To provide civil rights and liberties guidance in the review of TSA’s existing and proposed policies and programs.

Education Mission:

• To ensure that TSA provides comprehensive cultural awareness training to the security workforce.
• To provide easily understandable information to the traveling public about what to expect from TSA’s programs and activities.

Outreach Mission:

• To engage with community leaders and members about their experiences with TSA’s programs and activities.
