Risk-Based Security Initiative

TSA Pre✓™ is in partnership with Customs and Border Protection (CBP), American Airlines and Delta Air Lines. Certain frequent flyers from Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and certain members of CBP's Trusted Traveler programs, including Global Entry, SENTRI, and NEXUS who are U.S. citizens are eligible to participate. Alaska Airlines, US Airways and United Airlines will also offer TSA Pre✓™ to eligible passengers in the coming months. TSA plans to expand TSA Pre✓™ to include additional airlines, as well as airports that participate in a CBP Trusted Traveler program, once operationally ready.

Interested passengers who are not eligible through their airline and are not already a member of a CBP Trusted Traveler program may still be able to opt into TSA Pre✓™ by applying for one of CBP’s eligible programs. Click here to learn more: http://www.globalentry.gov.

TSA will always incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening in order to retain a certain element of randomness to prevent terrorists from gaming the system.

Who is Eligible?

Airline Frequent Flyers
Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways are contacting eligible frequent flyers with an invitation to opt-in. Once the passenger opts-in, the airline identifies the individual as a TSA Pre✓™ participant when submitting passenger reservation information to TSA’s Secure Flight system.

If a participating airlines’ frequent flyer did not receive an invitation from the airline, he/she can still participate by joining a CBP Trusted Traveler program. See below for more details.

Customs and Border Protection Trusted Travelers
Current members of CBP’s Global Entry, SENTRI and NEXUS Trusted Traveler programs are automatically eligible to participate in TSA Pre✓™.

Trusted Traveler participants will need to enter their CBP-assigned PASS ID number (located on the top right-hand corner of their Global Entry card) in the “Known Traveler Number’ field when booking travel reservations. Additionally, CBP Trusted Traveler participants can add their PASS ID number to their AAdvantage® or Delta member profile to have the number automatically sent to TSA when booking reservations.

Note: It is not necessary for CBP participants to opt-in through both CBP and a participating airline. Members are automatically eligible to participate by virtue of their enrollment in the CBP qualifying program.

How to Enroll

Individuals who apply, and are cleared for enrollment in one of CBP’s eligible Trusted Traveler programs, are automatically qualified to participate in TSA Pre✓™ when flying a participating airline at a participating airport.

Here are the basic steps for applying:
Before a traveler can apply for a Trusted Traveler program, they must first register for a CBP Global Online Enrollment System (GOES) account.

Once registered in GOES, the traveler can move forward with the enrollment in one of the CBP eligible programs. The GOES system will provide a PASS ID number after the enrollment in a Trusted Traveler program.

Once a passenger has signed up for a Trusted Traveler program, he/she must provide their PASS ID number, associated with the Trusted Traveler account in the “Known Traveler Number’ field when booking travel. The passenger’s Trusted Traveler information will be submitted along with reservation information to TSA’s Secure Flight system.

At the Airport

Participants Flying on American Airlines
Participants flying on American Airlines will need to use the following TSA Pre✓™ checkpoints to find out if they are eligible for expedited screening:

• Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW): Terminal C, Checkpoint C30
• Las Vegas (LAS): D Gates First Class Checkpoint (American and Delta)
• Los Angeles (LAX): TSA Pre✓™ screening lane
• Miami (MIA): Concourse D, Checkpoint 2
• Minneapolis (MSP): Lindbergh Terminal, Checkpoint 4 (American and Delta)

Participants Flying on Delta Air Lines
Participants flying on Delta Air Lines will need to use the following TSA Pre✓™ checkpoints to find out if they are eligible for expedited screening:

• Atlanta (ATL): T-South Checkpoint
• Detroit (DTW): Checkpoint 2 on the ticketing level
• Las Vegas (LAS): D Gates First Class Checkpoint (American and Delta)
• Minneapolis (MSP): Lindbergh Terminal, Checkpoint 4 (American and Delta)
• Salt Lake City (SLC): Terminal 2 Checkpoint (Delta only)
