Workforce Stories

A Washington-Dulles International Airport TSO was performing a checked-bag search and noticed several purses that appeared empty. As she continued her inspection, something did not seem right, so she contacted a Supervisory TSO.
After taking a closer look, the Officers determined that items were skillfully concealed within the lining of the purses. Local law enforcement was contacted, and with the help of a Transportation Security Specialist for Explosives, it was determined that the substance was not an explosive, but 6.5 kilos of cocaine. The passenger was arrested.
“The TSO demonstrated strong drive and attention to detail,” said Dulles FSD Susan Tashiro. “This proves how important each member of our workforce can be in identifying would-be threats to transportation security.”
