At Ohio’s Port Columbus International Airport, a TSA employee moved swiftly to help a man after recognizing that he was having a heart attack.

Gary Evans, a Bomb Appraisal Officer, responded to a call for assistance at the Continental Airlines baggage claim area and found an unresponsive man lying on the ground.

As a former firefighter, Evans leaned on his training and began to perform CPR. He continued administering CPR for more than 20 minutes until paramedics arrived.

“He could have given up, but insisted on doing everything possible to help the ailing man,” said a witness. Unfortunately, the man died later at the hospital.
