How TSA is Answering the Call

Each year, the first full week of October is designated as Customer Service Week. It’s an opportunity to highlight the people that serve and support customers on a daily basis. We at the Transportation Security Administration pride ourselves in being customer focused. TSA is always here to help, from the planning phase of the trip to a safe arrival at your destination. As part of our customer service efforts, we’d like highlight the ways we can be of assistance to you.

Before your trip…

AskTSA:

Unsure if a certain item can be carried through the security checkpoint and onto a flight? Or have you forgotten a personal item at the screening process? The AskTSA customer care team is dedicated to answering all of you your travel related questions. They can provide guidance on prohibited and permitted items, resolve TSA Pre✓® issues, and so much more!  AskTSA is available daily on Twitter and Facebook to provide assistance before, during, and after your travels.

Social Media:

Many frequent flyers and travel enthusiasts are already following TSA on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! Our social media team offers daily content filled with helpful travel tips and behind the scenes information. Check out our TSA YouTube channel for videos on what to expect at the checkpoint, a glimpse at some of the strange things brought to the checkpoint in our “They Brought What?” series, and an inside look at TSA’s mission.

TSA Cares:

For those who are traveling with a disability, medical condition, or any other special circumstances, there’s the TSA Cares helpline. Contact the helpline by calling (855) 787-2227 at least 72 hours prior to traveling. A representative will be happy to answer questions regarding the screening procedures. You may also request a Passenger Support Specialist who can provide you with personal assistance at the security checkpoint.

Website:

Visit TSA.gov to find your answers to frequently asked questions, TSA Pre✓® information or just take advantage of the What can I bring? tool, where you can search for items to see if they can or cannot fly! Get our top travel tips and other resources that help improve your overall travel experience.

Contact Center:

If you prefer to speak with a representative, you can reach out to the TSA Contact Center for an answer to your travel security questions. Automated information is also available anytime in several languages. Call 866-289-9673.

We have an app for that! Download the MyTSA app and have 24/7 access to the most frequently requested airport security information. You’ll also get detailed information on your favorite airports and historic wait time data… all at your fingertips!

At the Airport Checkpoint…

Transportation Security Officers:

When you reach the airport checkpoint, you’ll interact with members of our frontline workforce, who are truly the friendly face of TSA. Our officers are there to make sure you move through the screening process smoothly and efficiently, so that you can be on your way to a safe flight. If you are in need of a helping hand during the screening process, all you have to do is ask! One of our officers will gladly provide you with assistance.

At TSA, our mission is to ensure you arrive safely at your destination. It’s our commitment to customer care that will make your experience a pleasant one. So if you are ever in need of assistance, all you have to do is ask!
