Matthew L. Kronisch
Matthew L. Kronisch is TSA’s Deputy Executive Assistant Administrator/Deputy Director for Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (LE/FAMS). Kronisch joined TSA after serving the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as Associate General Counsel for Intelligence, in which position he advised each of DHS’ Chief Intelligence Officers and led the Intelligence Law Division after establishing it in December 2003. He was appointed to the Career Senior Executive Service in December 2006.
Kronisch received the Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Executive in 2011 and in 2018 accepted appointment to the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Law and National Security. During a 2021 sabbatical, he served as Distinguished Fellow in Residence at the Syracuse University Institute for Security Policy and Law.
Prior to his DHS career, Kronisch served in various roles in the public and private sectors, including Assistant for Inspections in the Office of the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Oversight, Assistant General Counsel at TyCom (US) Inc., and Counsel at Westminster Realty Corp. He retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve in December 2010 after serving in several key active-duty roles, including Command Judge Advocate for the Naval Special Warfare Development Group and Staff Judge Advocate for Joint Interagency Task Force-West.
Mr. Kronisch received JD and LL.M (International and Comparative Law) degrees from the Georgetown University Law Center, and a BA in International Relations from Bucknell University.
