Sophia Jones was named Assistant Administrator for the Office of Inspection in February 2015. Jones oversees and ensures the integrity and efficiency of TSA operations and programs through a range of criminal and administrative investigations, inspection and auditing services, and a rigorous covert testing program.
Prior to assuming her current role, Jones served as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Inspection, managing and providing oversight of the day-to-day operations since January 2013. She has also served as the Special Agent in Charge for the Internal Affairs Division, Technical Services Branch, managing the polygraph, computer forensics, and technical services programs. Since beginning her career with TSA in 2002, Jones has served in other capacities including Acting Director of Internal Affairs, Assistant Director for Operations, and Special Agent in Charge for the Office of Inspection at the Washington field office.
Prior to TSA, Jones was a Special Agent at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of the Inspector General and at the U.S. Department of Education. She also worked as a program analyst and position classification specialist at the Department of Education and U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Jones earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana and holds a Master in Public Administration from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
