Assistant Administrator Thomas Bush

Thomas Bush was named the Assistant Administrator for Intelligence and Analysis in November 2015. Before joining TSA, he was the Deputy Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Intelligence with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Prior to his role at CBP, Bush served a two-year assignment as the Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Homeland Security on Vetting and Intelligence systems.

Bush began his career in 1991 as a program analyst for the Department of Defense Strategic Defense Initiative and entered the U.S. Customs Service in 1994. During his tenure, Bush served as a program manager for the Office of Field Operations, the Director of Analytical Development for the Office of Strategic Trade, and Director of Targeting and Analysis Systems in the Office of Information and Technology. In 2006, Bush joined the Office of Anti-Terrorism, where he served as the Deputy Executive Director.

In 2010, Bush was appointed to the Senior Executive Service as the Executive Director for Intelligence and Targeting. He was responsible for supporting the CBP counterterrorism mission through the collection and analysis of advance traveler and cargo information, providing frontline officers with targeting indicators on high-risk movements approaching the border.

Bush is one of the first Department of Homeland Security graduates of the Naval Post Graduate School Executive Leadership Program and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Elon University.
