The TSA Miami International Airport (MIA) Passenger Support Specialist Team was recognized for their outstanding support of military veterans and the Wounded Warriors Program with the Federal Employee of the Year Organizational Partnership Award, presented by the South Florida Federal Executive Board, in Coral Springs, Fla., May 11.
Before more than 300 federal employees, representing over 130 federal agencies, the MIA team received a standing ovation as designated representatives accepted the prestigious award.
The award highlights the exceptional service of high-performing federal employees, and serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the difference individuals make in their role as public servants.
“I could not be prouder of the integrity and professionalism evidenced by the PSS Team in partnership with FAMS to facilitate the travel of those who have selflessly served our nation in uniform,” said Federal Security Director Karen E. Hanlon. “They truly emulate Administrator Peter Neffenger’s Intent.”
The passenger support team has guided more than 300 Wounded Warriors and U.S. military veterans through Miami International Airport, providing exceptional support to service members and their families.
In addition to assisting Wounded Warriors on a daily basis, they also participate in special events such as Honor Flights, autism awareness events and cancer awareness days.
TSA provides assistance to travelers who require special accommodations during the screening process across airports nationwide. For more information, read about TSA’s screening assistance and support for veterans and Wounded Warriors.
