BOISE, Idaho – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) named Andrew Coose federal security director (FSD) for Boise Air Terminal/Gowen Field Airport. Coose will also oversee five additional airports in Idaho.

Previously, Coose served as the deputy federal security director at Portland (Ore.) International Airport (PDX). He oversaw all aspects of civil aviation security in Oregon. Before that he was the East Africa aviation security advisor for the Safe Skies for Africa (SSFA) program at the Department of Transportation. As part of this assignment, Coose worked in Nairobi, Kenya for a year where he coordinated with a variety of agencies and countries to increase international aviation security.

"With over 17 years of experience in aviation security both domestically and internationally, Andrew Coose brings a unique set of skills to the position of federal security director," said Mo McGowan, TSA's assistant administrator for Security Operations. "His leadership and dedication to the mission will ensure we continue to build on the strong foundation of security established at Boise."

Coose also served at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a supervisory special agent regulating airports across Oregon. He was also an aviation security officer for the FAA, working in Tokyo at the U.S. Embassy as the FAA's contact on all civil aviation matters in Japan and Korea. Coose has international aviation experience in 24 countries around the world.

He holds a bachelor's degree in international studies from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. He also has a master's degree in business administration from Colorado State University.
