HONOLULU — The Transportation Security Administration today announced the opening of an application site for the TSA Pre✓® application program in the Inter Island Terminal at Honolulu International Airport (HNL).
This application process allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to directly apply for TSA Pre✓®, an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on, in select screening lanes.
Starting today, travelers going through HNL may go through a pre-application process online at tsa.gov, make an appointment and complete their application at the application center.
TSA Pre✓® allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to go through a pre-application process online at tsa.gov. All TSA Pre✓® applicants must visit an application center in person to verify their identity and provide documentation to confirm their citizenship and immigration status, as well as to provide fingerprints.
“This new application center increases the availability of TSA Pre✓® benefits to a broader population of travelers,” said TSA HNL Federal Security Director Stanford Miyamoto. “TSA Pre✓® is enabling us to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach to transportation security, as we look for more opportunities to provide the most effective security in the most efficient way.”
The TSA Pre✓® application program requires a background check, fingerprints, and an application fee of $85 for a five-year membership. Once approved, travelers will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) and have the opportunity to use TSA Pre✓® lanes at more than 150 airports and on 12 major U.S. airlines: Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, OneJet, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, Virgin America and WestJet.
The TSA Pre✓® application center at HNL is located at the Inter Island Terminal and is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Walk-in appointments will be honored on a first come, first-served basis.
As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening. Additional program information can be found at tsa.gov.
