SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today the opening of a new TSA Pre✓® application center at Sacramento International Airport (SMF) Terminal B.
The application center is in the baggage claim area of Terminal B and is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
TSA Pre✓® allows flyers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. All four airlines that serve SMF - American Airlines, Allegiant, Delta AirLines and United Airlines - participate in TSA Pre✓®. Travelers who want to enjoy the benefits of TSA Pre✓® on a consistent basis are encouraged to apply to the program.
“TSA Pre✓® is a signature program of the agency and it is designed for low-risk passengers who have enrolled in a Department of Homeland Security Trusted Traveler program,” said Jerry Agnew, TSA regional director. “Interested travelers should make an appointment now to apply in October.”
Appointments can be made online at tsa.gov/precheck. Click on the words “Apply Now” to make an appointment to complete the application process in-person at the TSA Pre✓® application center at SMF. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver’s license and certified copy of a birth certificate. Fingerprints will be collected during the in-person session.
The application fee is $85 and Trusted Traveler status is good for five years. It can be paid at the time of your appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Walk-ins are permitted and will be accommodated around scheduled appointments.
Once approved, individuals will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) making them eligible to use TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with a TSA Pre✓® eligible parent or guardian.
TSA has offered TSA Pre✓® at SMF since 2014. As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
