TSA Pre✓® application center coming to Oakland International Airport

Enrollment center open for three weeks beginning Monday

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that local Bay Area residents will have the opportunity to apply to the popular TSA Pre✓® expedited screening program for one week, at a temporary application center in Oakland International Airport (OAK) starting Monday, Oct. 31.

The application center will be located in Terminal 2 and will be open Monday, Oct. 31 -  Friday, Nov. 18, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 - 5 p.m.

TSA Pre✓® allows flyers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. Travelers who want to enjoy the benefits of TSA Pre✓® on a consistent basis are encouraged to apply to the program.

“TSA Pre✓® is a signature program of the agency and it is designed for low-risk passengers who have enrolled in a Department of Homeland Security Trusted Traveler program,” said TSA Acting Federal Security Director at OAK, Joseph Rodrigues. “Interested travelers should make an appointment now to apply.”

Participating airlines include: Aeromexico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Cape Air, Delta Air Lines, Etihad Airways, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue, Lufthansa, OneJet, Seaborne Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, Virgin America, and WestJet.

Appointments can be made online at tsa.gov/precheck. Click on the words “Apply Now” to make an appointment to complete the application process in-person at the TSA Pre✓® application center at OAK. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver’s license and certified copy of a birth certificate. Fingerprints will be collected during the in-person session.

The application fee is $85 and Trusted Traveler status is good for five years. It can be paid at the time of your appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.

Once approved, individuals will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) making them eligible to use TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with a TSA Pre✓® eligible parent or guardian.

TSA has offered TSA Pre✓® at OAK since November 2014.
