BOISE, Idaho – With the upcoming summer travel season expected to be the busiest on record, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is strongly encouraging local residents to enroll in the popular TSA Pre✓® Trusted Traveler screening program. Enrollment will be offered at the Boise Airport from May 7 -11, 2018.

The TSA Pre✓® enrollment center will be set up on the first floor of the airport on the baggage claim level, near baggage carousel #1. It opens Monday, May 7 and will remain open through Friday, May 11. The hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Friday, the hours are 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Boise Airport is located at 3201 W. Airport Way.

TSA Pre✓® allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and travel-size liquids and gels in their carry-on bag during the security checkpoint screening process.

Travelers who want to enjoy the benefits of TSA Pre✓® on a consistent basis are encouraged to enroll in the program.

“With the summer travel season just weeks away, don’t miss this opportunity to enroll in TSA Pre✓® right at the airport. There is no better time or convenient location to become a Trusted Traveler,” said Andy Coose, TSA Federal Security Director for the state of Idaho.

The process to make an appointment begins online at www.tsa.gov/precheck. Click on the words “Start Application Now” to begin the enrollment process.  Select “Boise Airport” as the enrollment center location.

You will need to complete the enrollment process in-person at the Boise Airport May 7 -11.  Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver license and certified copy of a birth certificate and fingerprints will be collected during the in-person session.

The application fee is $85 and Trusted Traveler status is good for five years. It can be paid at the time of your appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Walk-ins are permitted and will be accommodated around scheduled appointments.

Once approved, individuals will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) making them eligible to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with a TSA Pre✓®- eligible parent or guardian.

Forty-seven airlines participate in TSA Pre✓® and travelers departing a U.S. airport flying on any of those airlines are eligible for expedited screening. As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
