ONTARIO, California - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is encouraging Southern California residents to enroll in TSA PreCheck® prior to the holiday travel season. Due to TSA recently expanding enrollment options, people will have more access locally to sign up than ever before.

TSA PreCheck enrollment is now offered seven days a week from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Ontario International Airport (ONT). TSA’s enrollment provider at ONT is CLEAR and people can enroll in Terminal 2 or Terminal 4.

The cost to enroll is $77.95 and it gives approved travelers TSA PreCheck screening for a five-year period. TSA PreCheck screening is available at airports across the country.

“We continue to promote TSA PreCheck as a convenient and streamlined screening experience for travelers. By volunteering information about yourself during the enrollment process and prior to traveling, we are able to modify the screening experience for eligible travelers when you are at the airport,” said Jason Pantages, TSA federal security director at ONT. “We are thrilled that CLEAR is offering TSA PreCheck enrollment at ONT for 15 hours a day, seven days a week. This expanded access will help us grow the eligible Trusted Traveler population locally.”

“As we look ahead to another busy holiday season, we encourage travelers to take advantage of the convenience that our new CLEAR/TSA PreCheck centers provide. Whether you are looking to enroll for the first time, or renew your enrollment, these centers make the process easier than ever,” said Atif Elkadi, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority.

At airports across the country, people who are eligible for TSA PreCheck can “Travel with Ease” and experience a smoother screening process. Eligible travelers do not need to remove shoes, belts, light outerwear, laptops, electronics larger than a cell phone or travel-size liquids, aerosols and gels from carry-on luggage.

Statistics show that 99% of travelers eligible for TSA PreCheck waited 10 minutes or less to be screened at airports nationwide. Another benefit of the program is that children 17 and under are eligible for TSA PreCheck screening when traveling with an eligible parent or guardian on the same itinerary.

TSA has expanded the number of enrollment providers, making CLEAR a partner in efforts to expand access to TSA PreCheck enrollment. CLEAR operates kiosks in both terminals at ONT, located to the left of the escalator that leads to the security checkpoint. Enrolling through CLEAR does not require that you sign up for additional CLEAR services.

An in-person visit is required to complete the enrollment process. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver license and a certified copy of their birth certificate. A passport book or passport card is preferred. Other approved identity documents are listed at www.tsa.gov/precheck/required-identification.

Fingerprints will be collected during enrollment. U.S. citizens, U.S. Nationals and Lawful Permanent Residents are eligible to enroll in TSA PreCheck.

People can begin the enrollment process online by visiting www.tsa.gov/precheck and selecting “Apply Now” under the CLEAR logo. Follow the online prompts, enter the requested information, and select “Apply” for TSA PreCheck through CLEAR. The fee must be paid at the time of enrollment by credit or debit card.

While there are multiple TSA PreCheck enrollment sites in the Los Angeles area, they operate more limited hours and days as compared to the ONT, on-airport site. To see a complete list of enrollment sites, visit www.tsa.gov/precheck and select “TSA PreCheck Enrollment Locations” at the bottom of the page. Enter your ZIP code to review the locations.

To date, more than 20 million people have enrolled in TSA PreCheck. More than 100 domestic and international airlines participate in the program.
