Austin Military Community to Receive New TSA PreCheck® “Serve with Honor, Travel with Ease” Benefits

Local Press Release
Thursday, July 3, 2025

AUSTIN, Texas – In honor of the enduring sacrifice of our nation’s military families, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is proud to announce a new partnership with Austin–Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to enhance the travel experience for members of the U.S. military community as part of a national campaign.

TSA is introducing expedited access at AUS’ TSA PreCheck® lanes for active-duty service members and their families. In support of our military service members and families at Fort Hood, AUS will offer front-of-the-line privileges for military families. Active-duty service members traveling with or without their family members are encouraged to use the lane marked, “Active Duty Service Members, Use This Lane,” by the TSA PreCheck entrance.

“We are proud to support our military members as they travel through AUS,” said TSA Federal Security Director for Austin Kieran Flynn. “TSA AUS has a strong partnership with Fort Hood, and expanding TSA PreCheck benefits will directly assist the tens of thousands of active-duty service members and their families stationed in the Austin area. TSA is committed to honoring the service and sacrifice of military families by ensuring their travel is convenient and stress-free.”

TSA will also provide the following benefits to all military members and their families:

  • Gold Star families can enroll in TSA PreCheck at no cost.
  • Spouses of active-duty personnel can receive a $25 discount on the TSA PreCheck enrollment fee.
  • TSA PreCheck remains free for uniformed service members.

The TSA Cares program remains available for veterans and wounded warriors, providing personalized assistance through the screening process and ensuring a smooth and seamless screening experience.
