TSA testifies on canine teams effectiveness for securing transportation systems

TSA Office of Security Services and Assessments Division Director AnnMarie Lontz and TSA Threat Assessment Division Director Melanie Harvey testified today before the United States House Committee on Homeland Security, Subcommittee on Transportation Security, on the effectiveness canine teams have in detecting explosives and mitigating threats. They described TSA canine teams as a timely and mobile response to securing the nation’s transportation systems. In addition, canine teams play a key role in the TSA risk-based security model and multi-layered security program.
