Friday, July 25, 2014

TSA Administrator John S. Pistole spoke at the fifth annual Aspen Security Forum on aviation security on July 24 in Aspen. Presented by the Aspen Institute’s Homeland Security Program, the Aspen Security Forum invites top level government officials, industry leaders, think tanks, academia and journalists to address key security issues and answer critical questions about national and homeland security.

Administrator Pistole participated in a session titled “TSA: Toward a risk-based approach to aviation security.” During this session, the administrator discussed threats to the aviation sector and how TSA is responding to these threats.

He also discussed TSA’s intelligence-driven, risk-based strategy that focuses on higher-risk and unknown passengers, instead of the post-9/11 one-size-fits-all approach.
