Representatives from the TSA Office of Security Police and Industry Engagement presented on chemical transportation security at the 2014 Chemical Sector Security Summit on July 23.
Hosted by the Department of Homeland Security and the Chemical Sector Coordinating Council, representatives of state, local and federal agencies and departments attended to share best practices, learn about chemical security regulations and to gain insight into the roles involved in chemical security.
“While our primary stakeholders are transporters, like pipelines and railroads, this event provides us with an opportunity to interact with representatives of the companies and facilities that produce and offer chemicals for transportation. It gives TSA an opportunity to let these stakeholders know about our strategic direction for surface transportation security,” said Scott Gorton, Industry Engagement Manager for Freight Rail.
The event was held July 22 to 24, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
