Transportation Security Administration officers continuously train to identify explosive components and keep them from ever making it onto a plane. These training exercises are held three times a year, at Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck, New Jersey.
This “hands-on” training is a combination of classroom exercises and fieldwork which includes explosives identification and detonation of various types of explosives.
Since 2005, nearly 10,000 students have taken the course showing the importance of this program and how it enhances the capabilities of our security officers on duty.
Administrator Pistole understands the threats that explosives and other explosive devices can cause. “We’re dealing with a determined enemy who has innovated, in his design, construction, concealment, and deployment of improvised explosive devices…bombs,” said Pistole.
This training along with the agency’s various security measures ensure travel remains safe and secure by staying ahead of today’s evolving threats.
