TSA assistant administrator testifies on Secure Flight program

Transportation Security Administration Assistant Administrator for the Office of Intelligence and Analysis Stephen Sadler testified today before the House Committee on Homeland Security, Subcommittee on Transportation Security in a hearing titled “Safeguarding Privacy and Civil Liberties While Keeping our Skies Safe.”During the hearing, he explained the integral role the Secure Flight program plays in security efforts to deter and prevent terrorist attacks in aviation.

Secure Flight is instrumental in watch list matching and providing risk assessments that determine passengers’ eligibility for expedited, standard or enhanced screening as well as no fly status. The program supports TSA’s continued efforts of enhancing the passenger experience while maintaining transportation security a top priority.

Other topics discussed at the hearing include Secure Flight privacy, redress laws and procedures and implementation of Government Accountability Office recommendations to strengthen the system.
