TSA chief risk officer testifies on TSA Pre✓®

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

TSA Chief Risk Officer Kenneth Fletcher testified today before the House Committee on Homeland Security, Subcommittee on Transportation Security, at a hearing titled “Risk-Based Security: Assessing the Path Forward for TSA Pre✓®”.

During the hearing, Fletcher discussed the efficiencies TSA has gained through risk-based security initiatives, such as TSA Pre✓®, and how the percentage of passengers receiving expedited screening has increased since the implementation of the program. TSA continues to enhance risk-based security efforts and cooperates with industry partners to establish and expand the TSA Pre✓® program across the aviation sector.

TSA Pre✓® is an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on. Launched in December 2013, the TSA Pre✓® application program, allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to directly apply for TSA Pre✓®.
