TSA deputy assistant administrator testifies on global aviation security

Thursday, December 10, 2015

TSA Deputy Assistant Administrator Joseph Terrell testified before the House Committee on Homeland Security, Subcommittee on Transportation Security, at a hearing titled “Examining TSA’s Global Efforts to Protect the Homeland from Aviation Threats and Enhance Security at Last Point of Departure Airports” Dec. 8 in Washington, D.C.

During the hearing, Terrell discussed TSA’s efforts to mitigate the international aviation security risk to the United States. TSA routinely assesses security at foreign airports served by U.S. aircraft operators and at foreign airports serving as a last point of departure for foreign air carriers. In fiscal year 2015 alone, TSA performed hundreds of air carrier inspections and 146 foreign airport assessments to ensure compliance with both agency and international requirements.
