WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has named Dr. Emma Garrison-Alexander as Assistant Administrator (AA) for the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
Garrison-Alexander brings a varied set of skills to her position at TSA. As Assistant Administrator and as Chief Information Officer, she will lead an office with a nearly $400 million budget. OIT plans, organizes, provides, implements and maintains a fully integrated, certified, accredited and modern IT infrastructure. She will also have responsibility for developing and managing central policies and procedures for all of TSA’s IT requirements.
Garrison-Alexander most recently served as Deputy for Counterterrorism for Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Development, at the National Security Agency (NSA). A graduate of the NSA’s Senior Leadership Development Program, she also was the Senior Operations Officer at NSA, operating on behalf of the Director.
"She will provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing IT initiatives across TSA,” said Gale Rossides, TSA’s Acting Administrator. “Her experience in signals intelligence and information technology systems will be a strategic asset. We are fortunate to have her with us and her skills will no doubt continue to set the standard for excellence in transportation security."
Garrison-Alexander served more than 20 years with the NSA, starting as an electronic engineer and holding leadership positions in Technology and Systems, SIGINT, and Information Assurance.
Garrison-Alexander holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Telecommunications Management and a Doctorate in Management with a focus on technology and information systems.
