Travel document screening technologies automatically verify passenger boarding passes and IDs that are presented to TSA by passengers during the security checkpoint screening process.

TSA is exploring new ways to ensure the validity of travel documents to make travel safer for all passengers and will test four types of these technologies at two airports (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport) for approximately two weeks.

Travelers who use these technologies during the testing will also submit their travel documents to the travel document checker to ensure the same high level of security is maintained throughout the testing process.
